Robert "Buzz" Berry (pictured) shocked the mixed martial arts world last night by knocking out MMA legend Ken Shamrock in the first round at last nights Cage Rage show in London.
Berry began the round with some very hard leg kicks along with a stiff, persistent jab that kept the UFC Hall of Famer at bay. Shamrock, however, didn't seem to be too troubled. He continued to press forward, throwing a flurry of punches that gave him a chance to get inside. Berry would have none of that, using his 20-pound weight advantage and muscling out of the clinch.
At about the three minute mark, Berry began to have some success with his standup. A barrage of punches sent Shamrock crashing to the floor as referee Grant Waterman rushed in to put a halt to the bout at 3:26.
In the supporting bout of the evening, Masakazu Imanari defended his Cage Rage featherweight title by defeating the Brazilian, Jean Silva with a vicious inside heel hook submission at 2:30 of the very first round. After taking Silva down, the Japanese fighter transitioned from submission to submission, keeping Silva in constant defensive posture. Once Imanari locked in the heel hook, all Silva could do was tap in agony.
Overall, I'd say that Cage Rage 25 was a very good night of exciting mixed martial arts action!
